The Near East Foundation is the United States’ oldest international development nonprofit. It was founded in 1915 as Near East Relief to aid the refugees of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire and Syria. Now, it still aids refugees and the displaced but it operates in eight countries focused on building sustainable communities, resolving conflicts, managing resources, and developing emerging economies.
